money, as the statistics have con-
vincingly shown. It is a matter for
great regret that Mr. Marshall has
decided to resign the position at this
juncture; but he has set in motion a
tendency to consolidation and self
support which is hound, if stimulated
and encouraged by continued and jllfll-
_clous pressure, to bring the expend-
iture of Mission Funds to the irre-
ducible minimum, and to put the
whole Home Mission Field of the Gon-
fercucoon a healthy basis.
