Sir,—Recenily you have had in your in the shape of notes and pencillings written over different nom de plumes anent the saying and doings generally in and about Pinette. These writers appear to porsess a generous aptitude for saying the wrung thing when they deem it proper to do so. They portray in vivid langusege things con ceraing bridges, wharves, emelis and emelt fishing, horse training aod horse racing so frequently that their lucubrations become very monotonous and tiresome to your many readers, We often feel charitably disposed how ever towards these writers in that their knowledge does not go much farther and their discretion, is et)]| more circumscribed. Why do the soscalled erudites in their noctural studies confine themselves to this eort of literature, which ofiea, through ignorance, is disfigured by verbosity and is frequently at variance with tacts and decency. They sit down to convolutionize all the gossip and scraps that are wafted to and fro from day to day for their weekly output for the eolumns of Tus Examiner. At times we are misled by the head-lines of these would-be bright productions. Wheo we think we have some bright startling newe on band—we are . buncc-steered into something worse than Dr, Williams’ Piok Pills (very good things for people of phiegmatic conatitutions.) To relieve the overstrained braias of these distinguished! contributors they con- ceived among themeelves the idea of chang- ing their thrice worn oat topics and bring ing into promivencea galaxy of respectable young ladies, endeavoring thereby to stem the current of criticism from the people. It is quite true thatthe rays of beauty bave converged themselves upon this bevy of young ladies. Did these writers stop bere? Young men or youths whose upper lips are barely shaded with the suspicion of permature moustache, are put upcu the boards. This move suited very well foratime. They thought they would go one better and arrogate to themeeleoe the sole rignt of putting .o prict whatever their gigantic intellects suggested at any cost of reputation. These innocent young people are ont as horse~trainors, eelecting the christian names of the young ladies for their horses occesionally and tne youth already referred to as jockey’s. A*Dublin jarvey would hesitate .o do such a thing or put his name to sucha farrago of arrant nonsense for publication. The young people feel aggreived at the sudden pubiicity given them of course nat~ urally enough then families are profoundly diegueted. We hope, however, that we sre nearing the end of suce reckless contribu~ 10 tions. One Ieland exhibitor wt St, John and Halifax last fell paid over tweuty four dollars as entry tees for those shows #everal weeks betore they came off. The ouly complaint ever heard was from visitors who thought the gate cbarges excessive. Now, who has gained by all this expenditure aud good management?
