He was educated at Prince or Wales College and followed a mercantile'career. first with his father and later (1921-1948) on his own in the Sterns B lo c k. Souris. Community interests in his younger years included member- ship in the Souris citizen's band (organized in 1905) and a prom- inent part in the artillery militia of Eastern Kings. marksman. Mr. Sterns was a member of the Canadian Bisley team in 1913.
