The occasion was the 25th wedding anniversary of this well known couple and upwards of 65 friends and relatives assembled to offer them congratulations on the happy occasion. ACORN The death of B. r, Acorn. 64. occurred at the Prince Edward Island Hospital on August I following n long iilneaa of several years. The late Mr. Acorn wee one of the best known and moat highly respected citizens and bus- inessmen of Char‘ ‘tetown. He was wen known to sporting lam throughout the Maritime Pro- vlnces {or his participating as all official in oountlese harness racing and boxing eveuffs. As orgahiber and proprietor of Ed's Taxi of this city he was also known to thous- ands of’ travellers and. city dwellers. His kindness and gen- erosity at all times, especially those of need, won l-lim legions of friends who were saddened when word of his death was learned. Though in ill health and suffering for many years he never lost his ability to smile or to sympathize with a fellow man. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Acorn of this city and had lived here most of his life. The extent of his group of friends waybest testified to in the hundreds of floral offerings and cards and letters of sympathy which in on his bereaved family from all parts of the continent. He was buried in People's Cemetery Aug- ust ll following funeral services in the Baptist Church of which he had been a longtime member. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. E. Mclnnnan and Rev. C. W Corey and were attended by a congregation which taxed the capacity 01 the church to the utmost as hundreds came t.o pay their final respects A beautiful feature of the services was the specially lovely rendition nf “Gethsemene" by vocalist Charlie Chamberlain. Following the church service the funeral cortege formed and provided one of the longest such seen here in many years. Thousands of citizens lined the streets to say [arc-well to a, marl they had loved, In the procession which was headed by the Reece Regiment Band were members of the Canadian Legion who attended 1n l. body the funeral of their comrade of the First world War, and members of the I. 0. O. F. who conducted a funeral service at the grave. Pall bearers were Lt. Col. D. A. MacKinhon, D.S.O., Hon. Dr. W. J .P. Macmillan, J. Lester Douglas, M. P-. T. W. L. Prowse, K. M. Martin and Milton Bell. Surviving are his wife. the for- mer Lena Shepard of Glace Bay, N, s, {our sons and seven daugh- ters. The sons are E. Franklin Acorn, H. Keith Acorn, William H. Acorn and Jack c. Acorn all of this city. The daughters are Mar- garet. Mrs. Stems Webster; Ada Mrs. John Warren; Mary, Mrs. Lloyd Archer; Kathleen, Mrs. Clarke Innis; Muriel, Mrs. S.
