My little girl aged twelve years came recently after a visit of ten weeks in Tor- onto. She got home looking so plump and hearty that I came toa conclusion that she had been well fed. I found that while her diet morning, noon and nigh t was very much the same as she had been A Bag Pipe Wei Cuucle He ADDRESSES DELIVERED The Emblem of the Celtic St. James’ Hall was well dlled on Thurs- dayevsnlng, the occasion being the pre- sentation ofa set of Highland pipes to the Boys’ Highland Brigade. He also referred to the success f the Highland Brigade in carrying oil' the trophy last year in competition with the other brigades. He was very much pleased when the Brigade accepted the invitation of the games committee to attend the Scottish Gathering with the Club at Souris in August last and also referred to th grand reception they received from the people of Souris and Eastern Kings Co. He said the procession through Siuris wasone of the most imposing in the his U01? of the Club, but the most pleas ing feature of the parade was th o e under the able commind of Major Stewart. Afterfurther complimentary remarks he made the presentation to Adj. McIntyre on behalf of the Brigade, the latter being lined up in front of the platform. Lieut. McDonald suitably re’- plied on behalf of the Brigade, 'thanking the donors for the beautiful presentation and also thanked Mr. McPhee for his complimentary remarks in connection with the conduct of the Brigade. Snort addresses were thcn delivered by Messrs. Jas. Paton, John McEachern, Donald Nicholson. Alex. McDonald, Rev. A. D. McDonald, ani the chairman, all of whom spoke in eulogistic 'terms of the Brigade and the bag pipes, the national musical instrument of Old Scotia. Piper Ferguson enlivened the occasion byanumber of selections which were quite inspiring and in keeping with the occi- sicn. ' Theproceeding-i were brought to a close by cheers for the presenter, and the Cale- donia Club. The pipes were made by Peter Hender- son of Glasgow and are made of cocus wood, nickel silver, engraved in thlstles, plated and ivory mounted, with Garmin silver tuning slides. The pipes are pro- nounced by theClub piper Peter Fergu- son to be the best set in the Province. It is needless to say that the Boys of the Brigade are delighted with the pipes. __i<_____ ll` WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN. ik.; LONDON, May 21. -_-The government was questioned in the house of Commons to day on the subject of the British tug in- cident at Tien Tsin, when two Chinese on board that vessel were fatally shot by had fouled it.
