In support of the amendment Mr. Mills spoke three quarters of an hour, confining hiscriticism almost entirely to the ad Hon. Mr. Daly replied in support of the policy of his own department, whieh was formerly administered by Mr. Mills, show- ing that, considering the extent of the service, the present administration of the Indian Department is much more econo- mical, as well as more effective, now than it was under Mr. Mills. Official despatches from Windsor an- nounce that Lord Salisbury has accepted the commision to form a ministry, and kissed the hand of Her Majesty upon being formally appointed premier. The members of the new ministry, as far as selected, are ofliciallly announce :— Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the Marquis of Salis- bury. Lord President of the Council, the Duke of Devonshire. First Lord ef the Treasury, Right Hor, Arthur James Balfour. Secretary of State for the Colonies, Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain. Chancellor of the Exchequor, Right Hon. Michae! Hicks Beach. First Lord of the Admiralhy, Right Hon. George Joachim Goschen. The other places in the ministry are not yet definitely allotted. The National Liberal Federation has in course of preparation a manifesto deal- ing with the coming general elections. Mr. Morley, Chief Secretary for Ireland, will open the campaign July 4th, at Man- awhester, where he will address a mass mesting of the party. Bishop Cameron's Jubilee AntTiconisn, June 26. The celebration of the twenty-fifth an- niversary of Bishop Cameron’s episcopacy, ‘o-day, will be a notable ecclesiastical event in the history of Eastern Nova Scotia. Besides nearly all the priests of the Antigonish diocese, a number of dis- tinguished ecclesiastics from other parts of Cenada are in town to take part in the celebration. These include Archbishop O’Brien, the Bishops of St. John, Char- lottetown, St. Johu’s, Nfld, and Sher- brooke, Quebec, and a number of French- Canadian priests. Bishop Cameron will be presented with $4,000 to-day by the clergy and laity. Suicide in Montreal. Montreal, June 26. W. A.
