A REPORT is current that the McCor- mack Manufacturing Co., of Chica.go,wi1l open a branch establishment in Toronto, 1 for the manufacture of all kinds of firm machinery. W. F. Johnson,la.te of the Massey-Harris Co., is mentioned in con- nection with the general management. The extention of the Company’s 0; e 1 t ons in Canada, is given as a. reason for the Toronto branch. Now that the pleasant evenings are ap~ proaching we may hopeto shortly have our excellent bands discoursing music on Queen Square. This serves to recall the fact that the roof of the band stand is much too low both for the comfort of the bandsmen and the effect of the music. L There is a general desire to have the roof raised, and as this could be done at com- paratively small cost,it is to be hoped the musical season begins. On Sunday the 8th the illness which resulted in death first made itself felt; and for more than two weeks anxious friends ministered uncessingly to the sufferer, and did everything that love Could suggest to stay the hand of the disease that had fastened upon her. Ext the tender ministrations of physicians and friends were unavailing, but the suf- ferer found much needed relist in death. The grief occasionedjby Mrs. Mae- Lean’s death is shared by all who knew her. The place which she filled in the 1 home and community was not fully rec- ognized until this place was made vacant. Then we all realized that an angel had SQJ0urned among us,and that her presence did very much to bring suushine, love and happiness into our lives. W'ith her re- moval the home loses a. wife and mother who was in every way worthy of those y sacred names. Kind, patient, loving,self- 1 forgetful, finding life's ,joy in the happi- ,1 ness of those whom she loved. _ she en- twined herself into our heart's affections in such a way that it was hard to give her up. But it was the Saviour-'s call that sum- moned her away, and therefore we are resigned in our sorrow. The deceased was for many years a true and devoted Christian, and a member of the Montague Baptist Church. She loved her family, but, as she said on her death-bed, she loved her Saviour better. For those who were permitted to stand by the sick~bed, it was an inspiration to hear her speak of her bright hope in Ch/rist, and of her joy at the thought of meeting her Saviour and her triends who had gone before. The deceasedleaves a. husband, four sons, and three daughters, two brothers, and two sisters to mourn the death of one who will Rest from thy cares and sorrows, Rest from thy mortal pain, Sleep on beloved mother, In Heaven we’ll meet again.
