Elmwyck Good Morn- ing. which won the senior and grand championship for Wald- ron MacPhee. Elmwood. It was early on Feb. 2. 1962. and Mr. MacPhee had arisen early to find the morning was frosty and unusually cold-he was on his way to catch a piano to Ontario to accept the Sem- per Trophy. which his herd had merited by achieving the highest average production for herds of that size in the prev- ious year. But Mr. MacPhee also found something else that morning before he left home. When he entered the stable he found a n rnng." The youngster veioped satisfactorily and the grand championship for him yesterday afternoon. One other unusual fact about the young sire is that his mother "Lily" was headed for the packing plant some years ago. when Mr. MacPhee pur- chased her for beef price. She's an "Excellent" cow for con- formation aa she has been rated that by the official classifier The MacPhees think she’s an excellent cow in other ways as well. She has been the main foundation cow for t a hard that won national recognition two years ago. Incidentally the Sterling Wood and Son herd won the Semper trophly: a year ago. A M I.
