He was born at Bor- deaus, France, December 27th, 1795. After the restoration he was stationed at the cavalry school of Saumur as a cayalry officer, where hreugh the influence of Lafayette, he always said, he became involved in a conspiracy to place upon the throne the yeung Duke Reich- stadt, Napoleon the Second. The conspiracy failed, and he, with several othors, was sen- tenced to be shot.
