' ocnsiuva run This week began in quite a -flurry oi activity, at least in some circles. as the debating team went into their windup. drawing many of their associates into the vortex of their feverish activities as they prepared to enter into the region- al finals match. The whole pro- gram was by this time mov double- e as e two debaters in es. and Peddle tried to cram adequate research on the resolution to be handled at the meet into the three days that were ailoted before the encounter which would decide the maritime champions. To further complicate matters. the team had to devote themselves to both sides of the resolution, "That international riv- alry still holds more promises than threats for the future of mankind." The sides weren't decided until the night before the two stalwarts de- parted for the mainland. To bast- en the research program. a - ei discussion was staged in w the topic was thoroughly aired. The debaters conscripted a va- tlble army of scribes and placed them at strategic points around the discussion table to gather in the fragments as the great minds commenced to dissect the topic. Following this operation. the de haters and their scribes thoroug- :1: .-:::::':..::::..m-...."":: ....-: ar e a writers rent the air with the birth-we-ll of the speeches upon which the Saints were depending in order to sweep the field in this last before the domino- lon final matehin Ontario. Perhaps it was expecting too much for a rookie team. as Saint Dunstans has this year. to reach the final rung on thsJirst try. The records compiled by the various members oi'this year's team, however, are so impressive that it seems quite likeb that ano- of hard knocks should see them polished to such a degree that they can bring the dominion title once again to Saint Dunstan's. We feel that the mess of success that was achieved by the cam- pus branch of the M.1.D.L. this year will whet the appetites, strengthen the convictions, and impart something of a cultural itch to the team that will enter the lists next, year. EXHIBITION DEBATE We are looking forward, then, to another outstanding perform- ance with perhaps the addition of the final star to the records in next year's competitions.
