UNDER SAD OIRCUMSTANCES —_— Death of John Steele at Clyde River, Yesterday A man named John Steele, belonging to Cornwall, died at Clyde River yesterday morning under sad circumstances. It seems that Sieele was in town on Friday, and on that night, on bis way home stopped atthe Louse ofa friend. Here he remained until late Saturday afternoon. when he complaioed of being ill and said he was going to see a doctor. On the way to the doctor’s he evidently became worse and lay under a bush. Here he was afterwards found vomiting and apparently very weak. He was taken to the bouse ef @ man named Archibald McDonsld, where he was keptall night, sleeping on a lounge in the kitchen. On Sunday morn- ing he asked fora drink of water which was given him. After giving him the drink Mrs. Macdonald went outside to do some work and upon her return she found Steele dead. Steele was about 55 years of age, and wasa carpenter by trade. Tue New Brince.—Work up on the new stone bridge at Brighton will begin this week. This bridge will be constructed according to plans made by Mr. J. P. Nichoison, C. E., City Surveyor. The bridge will be 48 feet long and 8 feet high. It will be finished at both ends witl estep- wings trom the roadbed to the water line. The ends wil) be finished with heavy copings, 48 inches wide, which qill serve for sidewalks. ‘These copings will be protected by oraamental iron railings, which will extend along the approaches at each side of the bridge.
