Two years ago a wind saved Israel from a locust swarm so great that if they had landed not a green sprout would have re- mained sbove ground. When the people of this young struggling nation saw the black cloud-like swarm over Jordan they prayed for divine intercession against the locust hordes. Soon after a brisk wind sprang out from the west and pushed the invading insects hack the way they came. leaving Israel almost completely free of them. 0 O I And now let me tell you about a dream that solved a murder. On January 10. i942, a couple of colored men were returning from a hunting trip to their homes In Wadley. Georgia. To shorten their journey they cut through a fool path that led past a little Bap- tist church. Just behind the church Wednesday. Sept. III. 1954 in s clump of bushes they stum- hled upon the body of a man who had been killed by a shotgun blast. The police were summoned and the dead man was identified as William C. Smith, 42. operator of a filling station. Later. it. was learned that Smith had closed his filling station st 9:00 pm. on January 9th with over S100 in money in his poc- kets. The money was gone. For over two weeks all efforts to solve. the crime met. a dead and. Then 8-year-old Mary Smith. daughter of the murdered man called to ace Chief of Police. Char- lea Spell. with an amazing story. "Dad came to me in a dream and told me he was killed by three men." the little girl said. She even named the three men and described them so nicely that Chief Spell was impressed. He called in the Georgia Bureau The Gmnllaa If U of investigation and a certain Captain Roper and tin etbsr cl- ficera were assigned to the use." Checking into the activities J the three men on the night at the crime. Captain Roper ordered the arrest of the three suspects: Clif- ford Slates. 34: Alvin Macxensie, 19: and Morris Mincey. In due time the three signed confessions to the crime which revealed that Mlncey had been used as a decoy. He had lured Smith to the rear of the church telling him that he has wkillsox hidden there.
