U.S.1Navy Needs a Deficiency? Appropriation. la is probable the Navy deli. r m~i will be forced to ask for large tiltin- oncy appropriations during the next session of Congress. Already, with the fiscal, year but one-font-in exhausted, i the funds are woefully deg.-leitd,so much so that in some of the hurt-aus there is scant means for carrying on tue regular work at navy yards and stations. Ui.- der the head of construction andtepair. l for which Congress allotted $3,000,000, the bureau has already expended $1,- 442,614. leaving a balance to entry the bureau through the nine months re- maining ot 81 557,326. An inquiry is now being made to ascertiin which ves- sels should be repaired first and which ships may without loss to the govern- ment await the deficiency appropriation. The present indications are that about 810,000,009 will be asked for to help on the various naval prejetts. There is a misunderstanding in most quarters in regard to the action of Sec- retary Long in limiting the repair work on ships of war. This does not mean a reduction of force ner a cutting down in the expenditures at yards and sta- tions. '].`he plan is to arrange the work so that with available funds the import- ant proiects shall be carried out first, leaving the yachts aad unimportant ships for the dehciency apprcpriations. The regular amount will be expsr ded this yell' and here will be no attempt to eeonomin so long as the iunds last. -Chicago Tribune. _. a 5 Linilent `llte Modern Pain Cure i sl .
