Turner, who has been for seven years connected with the Coe Brass Company in Torring-ton, died this morning at the I-lahnemanln Hospital in New York following an opei-stion`»which was performed la.-it Tuesday morning. Death was wholly unexpected to his many friends and business associates. It was thought that his trouble was not serious and that the operation would be compar- atively simple, requiring only about] The offices of the American Bi-ass twenty 1 -minutes, but the surgeons found his condition' much more ser- ious than they had expected and the operation required about two hours, In spite of this, however, lic rallied from the effects of the operation and all through Thursday night and yes- terday his condition seemed most favorably for a speedy recover?- Mr. Turner was a native of Prince Edward Island and was about forty- five years of age. Practically all of his business life was spent in the metal industry. He was- first assoc- inieii with the U. 'r. i-iunserloril Brass~ & Copper Company, of New York. and later with thc flrni of Wallace & Sons, of Aiisoiiia. When the factory of this last-named firm was purchased by the Coe Brass Company in 1895 Mr. Turner became connected with that company where he continued until scveni years ago when he came to Torrington. Here he became a strong factor in the hiislness and held successively the offices of assistant secretary and secretary, of the Coe Brass Coni- pany, and ii vice president of the Americani Brass Company since Janu- ary I, 1912, when 'rue subordinate cori-_iipsnles were taken over by the liol ing company. During his residence ln' Torrington Mr. Turner made many friends Intl was held in the highest esteem hy everybody who ;knew him, and' espec- aily by those who were associated with him in business, in which circles he was known _aa a man of unusual ability, and his great ability and personal qualities were recognized and appreciated by the companies with which he was connected, as evi- denced by the frequent promotions which were tendered to him.
