Nightm- gale, commission auditor, related further financial operations of the Maritime National Fish Ltd. at the resumed hearing of the massdluying probe this afternoon. In the fish department, the com- pany had made net. sales of $2,393.- 080 in 1929; 2,258,718 in 1930; $1,782,- 242 in 1931; $1,282,254 in 1932 and $884,028 in 1933, stated the auditor. The closing period in each year was taken as of April 30. The cost of trawler-caught fish was not fixed on any market basis but was governed by the total cost of trawlcr operations. The accumu- lated depreciation on four trawlers amounted to $299,000. LABOR COSTS Figures showed labor costs in 1929 to have been $292,483. but this drop- ped in 1933 tg $98,318. In the Bam! period, however, administrative ex- penses remained stationary in the neighborhood of $80,000. Labor cost depended. said Mr. Nightingale, on the volume of opera- tions. If loss fish were caught, the labor cost would be smaller although administrative expenses rcmained. Witness gave figures to show reduc- tions in salaries and wages, the ex- ception being low-paid labor. In the fish mcal and oil division, net sales for Fasterfat Ltd., subsidi- ary of the Maritime National Fish Ltd., were given by witness. ln 1929, these net sales, said Mr. Nightingale, were $212,339; in 1930, $230,407; ln 1931, $193,729; in 1932, $103,476 and lin 1933, $115,452. Shack purchases from trawlera were $29,662 in 192.9; $22,651 in 1930? in 1931, $34,102; in 1932, $24,566 and in lass, $29,312, Mr. Nlzhtinsale told remarkable nil The writ- ei-irien city as ine adn New neun- priughi ramad a high three ai vos charged in me iuh meal and on ibmddeemynrt ht*/I "` the high $11190 10'! the Guardian lt, however, mowed that he is ii swicir asoirants for Maritime senior for the Nationals and W.
