Marion & Mar- ion, Solicitors of Patents & Experts, Tem- ple building, Montreal :— The laet Report of the Commissioner of Patents furnishes an excellent comparative | statement showing the number of patents issued by the United States and foreign Governwuients, from the earliest periods of this work to December Slst., 1897. In this, the total foreign product (from fifty= three countries) amounts to 1,122,724 pat- ents, while the United Staes alone hra 606,423 more than one-half of all the bal~ ance of the world’s inventive product. Of the foreign patents, France jeaas with 286,081 ; Great Britain has 252,990 to her credit, and Belgium with 139,742, and Germany with 113,254,cem s next in order of patent insportance. The smallest iseues were in Siberia aid the Babamas, each having 2, and in St. Helena, 4. EEE = paar nee tae od ‘the workman often eats his lunch on the same bench where he does his work. The office man turns his desk into a din- ner table. Neither gets the out cf door exercise he needs, neither takes the proper time for eating. It is small wender that the digestion of both gets out of order. Its such cases Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets come to their assistance by aiding nature in taking care of the food. The cause of nine tenths of the sicknets of the world is constipation. From this one cause come indigestion, disorders of the stomach, liver end kidneys, bilious~ ness, headaches, flatulence, heartburo, impurity, of the blood. and the serions complications that follow. To begin with, constipation isa little thing, and a little thing will cure it. The “Pleasant Pellets” are tiny, sugar-coated granules. They will perfeetly cure the worst case of constipa~ tion and indigestion.
