This is a branch of horse training that is too generally neglected. Quick walk- ing teams do fully a fifth more work than slow stepping ones, and do it easier, better, and more satisfactorily, while itis a greater pleasure to do work with such a team. Draft horses should invariably be trained to a fast walking gait, which greatly increases their value. Taking the prizes for the best wwls- ing horses from the exhibition list is, in our opinion, a serious mistake. —A griculturist. ProcressivE LawN Tennis TovrRNAMENT. —This novelty in the game of Tennis was in- troduced on Saturday last at Victoria Park, and proved most interesting to both players and _ spectators. Five courts were used, and of these one was made ** King Court,” and another ‘‘ Booby Court.” One game only was played at atime on each court, the players moving ina circle from court to court after each game, and changing partners every move. The players who won the most number of games at the King eourt and those who lost the most games at the Booby court received prizes. Among the lady players Miss M.
