There are many things that I and each of the other candidates had hoped that the Student Union could do. Changes that we had hoped could be made. To quote from last years speech:"not great and wonderful things just small things that, when added together can mean a hell of a lot. Before anything can be changed, before we can do new things...people have to start to care, they must be concerned. The executive came together at the end of April and low and behold a lot of dreams were very much the same. Many of our hppes have not come to be. Granted we have carried on the usual operations of the Student Union. No one can take away the fact that we have tried. - Rent review decision - Began paying debts for the Barn- — Final payment of debt to Fitzgerald Snow - Campus police set up — Zurich insurance again underway 4 . - Attempt to hold two, events per week (ThUrsday& Saturday) ” -*§8toberfest was run even though there were “0 applications for the, Position of chairman - Cadre, CIMN, again in Operation ‘ '- Establishment of com- mittees for'problems re- lated to students ' - Organized open Pubs for every Friday afternoon . ~Work on Student Dir— ectory to be completed by for'Meehng the beginning‘of 2nd term — The roof of the Barn after 3 administrations was finally repaired —Regualr by—elections were held — Salary negotiations for full time help were completed - More Senate Committees now have student represent— ation — Day Care Center nego— tiations concluded — Trim on Barn painted cont. pg. 11 Communications Officer Liz Burgke The Student Union con- stitution designates my re— sponsibilities as our radio station CIMN and our news- paper, the CADRE. CIMN is doing an excellent job this year. The music played is not all the same (variety is the spice of life), news reports are good and so is sports coverage. Arrange- ments for cable television are nearly completed and day students should be able to listen to their campus radio next semester. Credit should be given to Maurice Rogerson, station manager, for the excellent job that he is doing. The CADRE is a much better paper this year than last but it is still are you foe mood .7 Then jump on the Bandwagon and boogie on over to the Steele Recital Hall for some of the big band sounds 'of Glenn Miller, Count Basie Don Sebesky, and others. The Jazzbo Panthers, reformed this fall after a lapse of three years is together ggain in even great- ,er strength. This 16 piece combo features four mellow saxes, a driving rhythm _section, three punching trombones, and four screamin' trumpets. Under the direction of Bert (the monster) Tersteeg, this dynamic group has been rehearsing for over two months. We're ready now, but are you ready for us? 'FROSH CLASS ELECTIONS having its difficulties be- cause of lack of staff. I have worked on the paper quite a few times and the staff who return week after week are to be complimented on their patience and dedi— cation. Arrangements for a UPEI Student Directory have been completed and it will be published the second week of January and made avail— able to all students. A ta- ble will be set up at regis- tration so that everyone -will have a chance to say whether or not they wish to have their name in the Di» rectory.
