When the heart queen held, he led the through East, who now covered. south rutled. cashed the ace and king of trumps, then led to dummy's trump queen. The estab- lished hearts let him discard three more clubs, and the diamond ace took care of South's last club. Thus, this South made his contract and an extra trick. Particularly because this was match-point duplicate, the heart play through East was better than the club lead toward the king, be- cause the former had an equal chance to succeed and if it did succeed it‘would produce all thir- teen tricks.
