Truro ‘is the eastern terminus of the Midland but not only that buta railroad centre of great the Midl ind any longer than is absolute- ly necessary. Her people are saying that the Midland railway should be ex- tended to Brule, a Northumberland strait port in ‘\ this (county, only 28 miles distant. From Truro to Charlot- town via Brnle is not much further than from Truro to Picton alone. This shows what an advantage te through travel- - Iers to P.E. Island would follow. were there a railway t iBrule with a steamer leaving there for P. E. Island. A short railway journey and a brief water trip would save- much time and avo d much apncyance. To be strickly accurate. the distance from Truro to Charl-itotown via Brule is only three miles greater than from_ Truro to Picton. In the several estimates there appears a vote ot $12.000lor a wharf at Brule. An ex. tension of the Midland to that point therefore, and the consequent shorten- ing of thedistince to P. E. Island and may he set down for the not distant future. A charter has been obtained and a preliminary survey made ' for the North Colchester railway, to accom- plish this 'short route to the Island and open up intervening country-. ,Among the names mentioned in the ‘charterfp are those of J.
