A NARROW ESCAPE.-Mr. Alexan-
der Stewart, section foreman of _tli_e_Pi
E. I. Ry. at Emerald, met with a se-
vere accident at Hunter River Thurs-
iiay. Mr. Stewart and three other
men were proceeding along tho track
in their lorry w-hell a crow bar drop-
ped off, falling in front of the-wheels.
The lorry was derailed and the men
hurled to the track. All were badly
shaken up, but Stewart received the
worst, as he was thrown against the
rails. Medical aid was summoned,
and the injured man, though suffering
.1 great deal, will recover.
