' ` Ttmsnar Arun 21. After a nnmber _ ot questions had been answered on motion of Hon. lr. Whear Tre House again resolved itself into committee with Hr. McWilliams in the chair on the bill authorizing corporations by the Parliament of the Dominion ot Canada to lend and invest moneys in the Province of Prince Edward Island. - The hill was reported agreed to with -some ammdmeuts. ‘ The Hale resolved itscli into committee ot the whohwithlr. IeKinnon in the chair toootidsrilis hllliorthc incorpor- ationd the town ot Souris. Ha. lolinal stated that some time ago a partial incorporation act was passed. This was ld satisfactory so a full incor- poration aot ww asked tor. At the meet- ing held about onehundrei present and -only seven were opposed. The petition presented to the House was signed by 150 names which were thought necessary. A counter petition was sent around and some who signedthe iiret petition' also .signed the second asthey had been told thattha passiagodthe act wolld mom a great inmean M taxes. Several people have written to him that they signed the counter petition while under a misappre- hsnslon and asked ii possible that their names be withdrawn, which of course was impossible. _ He suggested that the tax _ act he C amended withdrawing assessment from Souris. This would be a beneiit to the Government as the better roads in Souris would be of great benedt to the surrounding country. HB. MCLAUGHLXN said he had presen- ted the counter petition as a disinterested party. He was somewhat surprised find the name of Mr.. HcLean’s colleague on the counter petition. The House resolved itself into commit- tee. 1 Hou. Ma. 0!l.\Dl_IBKlY said by looking at the map he saw that nerky all of"'tlié` Public Works were excluded from the boundaries described. It did not include the bridge between Souris East and Souris West and Sourls Beach Road. IHON. HB. Holman said the contention of the Commissioner was astray. _It would be iust as sensible to say Charlottetown would include Hillsboro Bridge. He thought if every small _town was incor- porated the country would receive the benedts of improved approaches to the places ot shipping. Great numbers ot vessels come in with hard stone ballast which can be bought cheap it the town were incorporated. Hon. Mn. Omnnexxr said it would not beright to remove the assessment when the town would not take charge oi the Public Works. _ Hom. Mn. Parnas thought the principle of exempting from assessment was a bad precedent to establish and t if granted .in i the case of Souris would cause other villages to ask for the same.. 1 r' "P" ’ 9 if-.' --E/,_-'_-:~_,,‘<’-\` -' -_ N 2 3;f-.V _ I- _.vig __.Z.__'.> `_`Q_. _ l/|'\ ____ _/‘~_~__' ____ \‘: f__r't__\__ New Spring- and Summer Footwear- Ladies' fine laced bhots just i' ' . ~ i ~ - -_ - ~ H -° mum nrnvfloooo.:-"s if coco. r¢<=e1ved from tht J~ D» Kms _ .,a. 2..... of ...s...".§..1'.i'».. mo.. _ _ . ~ _ ' _w _,oe boot and shoe Co. ~ i _ m~a;.o. rv1;y°°;;““°n to Makers of the H- o :bg tw um' KING QUALITY _ |993 ` _ V Ladies’ boots and shoes, the _:gas for prices are $1.65, $2.35, and _ - _ c us. comm nos sever thought $3.35- 83°C f3St SCIHHH I _ Y ' C ) composed largely . _ 1 ‘ __ ; in* b00l'.S.
