Siers, Spence and Grahame Longley stop- ped at Muskox Lake to make repairs while the other planes continued southward. Frying-pan handles and other oddsand ends came in handy as Siers mended broken fuselage and P two cracked engine tubes. Ironic- ally, when the machine was thus made ready for the air it was found it had insufficient gasoline. The party was stranded. Then followed 14 days of nerd- ship, without adequate clothing or, camping equipment in weather 38 below zero. They were near starva- tion when, on the iith day, Siers killed a plarmigan. The next day a fox was contributed- to the meagre rations. And when they were rescued the plane which picked up the trio ws the one Biers had pulled out of Bathurst Inlet and put back mto condition. The siivers came out of their state of lethargy and moved up on good volume and trade speeded up in the cheaper golds also with prices holding. Previous lcsss-s in the gold group were suf- ficient to give the index a final drop of .26 to 103.39 but miscell- aneous mines registered a gain of I .38 to 92.44. Features of the senior gold groups was a loss of 20 cents for Braiorne to 5 40 and a gain of 20 cents for Hollinger to 13.05.
