This school has given the child- ren more halilly hours than they ever ad before. The habit of being appyisagnaat thing for after life. In later life they will march together as they march new on their school ground. The children in schools like this come up from clean childhood through a clean school to cieun manhood. And as in a dream he saw in thc future-not a new heaven prchnps -buts new earth in Prince Edward 0 Pr Robcrtson, Hon. F. L. Haszard, and many other friends for coming to the school to- day and thus show their sympathy with the work.Tbis school teaches the children tolove rather than to nate, to serve, to forgive rather than to resent and in so far as this school teaches the children to do these so far will it accomplish a. great mission in this Province. Premier Peters culogised Dr Robert.- son for having obtained for Prince Edward Island sucha boon as thc pre- sentschool. He had noticed for years that the people of this province had neglected .the great sense of eyesight. This example of a Consolidated School would better the province for all time to come. In securing beautiful things the pcrsnn is buttered in every sense of__ the word. This system of -educating by the ye and by the other senses, formerly Dr. Anderson thought that no dist-riot uponas being capable of producing an admirable eflect‘on the whole Island. While not forsaking the Latin and Greek he believed as thoroughly in the present school as Professor Robertson himselfdid. Principal S. N. Robertson felt that a time had come- for a change from the abstract teaching cf the past to the humanistic teaching introduced here by Dr. Robertson. Sight and touch are the two` gateways of knowledge to the human mind. Tho child under twelve can get little value from school books. The child wants to roam in order to get more scope for his eye. The consolidated school is only nn opportunity for the teacher to confine himself in part to “aonse"tesch- ing. He Joined with Dr. Anderson In thanking Dr. Robertson for thc benefits which he had brought to Prince Edward Island. Let us alljoln in wishing that the Macdonald Consol- idated School may be a model school to be imitated, duplicated and multiplied in all sections of the Island. Lion. F.
