Weitz said the treat- ment is “a form of lobotomy by electrical means.” The institute has give 2,500 people 22,000 shock treatments since 1966. The Canadian Psychiatric Association supports the treatment and no medical association opposes it. Psychotherapist Bonnie _ but university is Government subsidized and some people feel that it shouldn’t involve itself in private industry. “But the main problem” Keefe said “is that there are no concrete proposals” and the council doesn’t want to sign anything until the plans are known. “It would be like signing a contract without reading it first.” Burstow said electroshock patients lose memory and suffer brain shrinkage that can possibly harm their creativity, energy, enthusiasm and ability to learn. The treatment is used to jolt people out of depressions, Burstow said more humane methods of treat- ment exist. Similar protests took place in San Francisco, Denver, Philadelphia and Boston. :37 44 L; m; 5mm 0M {VEWT WHO ms [A TE/V 5y H/S 5w 7' HHIHHL EEHHHIUE‘ M- pelaRo MN o H H E E F F F L u u c n H J o F H H I -E H H E n H H C E n U n H H H w z c'u H v.0 H H H T o H n F n o H a H w G‘H E C H E=H H E 2 T E E u E F H R w n m T H E L w H I u H G H o F H H 2 F H E H F U n H o n n H S H F E I R H H o F H n T F F , n F F I F F T H w H F o F o E I T E H n ‘ z w E E H F n H’T n I I I n H E 3,5 H H G n E R H J I v H H L H B o F c H C v E c L H H H 2 H s F n U H H H H E H H H I B H v T o o H H n H z E H E H I F T J H EVH H a B n H H H E L L H F E n H H H v -v H U 2 C F F H E G H I H n v R 2 R J w J F E H H E’N o Q‘R H I H 5 I K v H H L F E_z H o G H L E H H v UxH H E F E n J L H H H F H F H B L L F F T L E G I a n H w L S J v H n H 2 H H H C F E H H v w H'H n H H T H n I G H F H I F n w n F H v H T F E I H H T o u C v H L G L E I T E n R n G H u H n H L E H T J B 2 0 6 FIND THESE HrnnEH HUFDF H THE HEUHE PUZZLE: HRDREY 7 j HUHFEF CHDHSKV' PHVLDV UHRMIH PIGEUHS HHFLUH EHTE HIHDE SKIHHER JHHES THURHUIHE, LHSHLEV TIHBERGEH LORENZ Tau-mm MONKEVS VUHFRISCH" “OF:mea HHTBUH Li _ .HM‘mmi/mTot ,—.
