October Oia Be By Kelly Mason Bear with me, please, fellow intellectuals. This ismy first article for the Cadre. This article is to bring you the tidings of election cheers. As you may have no- ticed, posters are starting to materialize out of no where. They've been sighted in the bathrooms, on the walls, and just about everywhere else. these people who are plaster- ing their names everywhere must care. What exactly do they care about and who the heck are they? The first question can be answered quite easily, as it was repeated through the whole Q and A. They care about the students, and it's about time someone did. The candidates made a big deal about not making any promises, and that was a re- lief. 1 could just picture some of them promising us really unrealistic and fantastic prom- ises as it is the trend with the politicians of the outside world. Our politicians constrained themselves and did a fabulous job speaking to a noisy crowd of students. The running can- didates hinted at a "new" idea. Their idea is that they are con- cerned about the student voice. They wantus to talk and speak out about what concerns us the most. A very good question was asked: what issues did they think were important to the students? One brief an- swer was: tuition. We are all concerned about the rising cost of tuition and maybe the repre- sentatives can do something about it. As one of the candidates mentioned, they cannot promise that tuition will be non-existent next year but they would work on that issue.
