Skate alter. Admission 30 cents, Annual Meeting Dunk River Dairying Company The annual meeting of Dunk River Dairying Company was held in Central Bedque hall on Tues- day afternoon Feb. 14th. A large number of the patron stockholders attended. Mr. William Sherry, Pre- sident of the Company reviewing business to Dec. 31st was able to report another successful year, though the season had been s dif- ficult one. The butter manufactu- ed in i949 had exceeded by thirty thousand pounds the i943 total and the President reminded the meeting that i948 production had been a. record uip to that time. The introduction of Margarine had been a serious blow to the dairy indus- try and would cause very uncertain conditions this year. Mr. Sherry mentioned the ex- tensive nrodernlzationa program which had been carried on by the Company during the pest three years and was pleased to be able to state that, despite all the ex- penditure necessitated by this pro- gram. the company's liquid fin- ancial position is stii.l good. He congratulated the Butter- makers, Mr. C. M. Johnson and Mr. O. G. Johnson, on having again won the Dairymans Association prize for first Grade Butter. Mr. C. M. Johnson's recent injury was very much regretted. The President thanked the other directors for the co-operation they had given him and expressed his best wishes for continued success under the new board. The Fin- ancial Statement for the year end- ing Dec. 31st 1940. was read and discussed. The comparative state- ment of Butter Grade issue by the Dept. of Agriculture was submitted. This statement showed The Dunk River Dairying Co. as having con- siderably higher percentage of First Grade Butter and higher average Butter score. than the average of Prince Edward Island, or the Dom- inion of Canada as s. whole. The meeting expressed its hearty appreciation of the fine work done by the Company's buttermakers end Mr. C. M. Johnson's long and faithful service was recognized in tangible manner. The rate of divi- dend to be paid on the Company's Capital Stock on i940 business was set by the meeting et the same rate as last year.
