' Notwithstanding the Indian famine the 1900 wheat* crop in, Bengal, Northwest Provinces and Oudh and the Punjab is above the average. Elsewhere it has-been a failure. The Indian wheat crop as a whole is 182,582,000 bushels, against 236,- 679,000 bushels in 1899. The Russian crop is rather below the average. More than an average is in- dicated for Central Sweden. In Germany' somewhat above an average yield is indicated. The Austrian crop is rather poor in some districts. The last figures received put the Hungarian crop at 135,- 000,000bushels. Roumaniau reports are favorable, but thetotal area is somewhat reduced.'The Bulgarian crop is reported unusually good. About an av_erage. crop is indicated in Italy, Switzerland and Spain; in France, slightly above the . average. Favorable. reports come from Belgium and the Netherlands.
