     When the Provincial Liberal Government first announced a program at Rural ectrltl- 
     
     cation it seemed too good to be true and was received with skepticism in some quat- 
     
     ers. However. today Rural Electrification is one at Prince Edward Island's greatest 
     
     benefits enioyed by about 7519 rural customers. . 
     
    
   
   
    
     The Matheson Government takes care of the areas not previously served and has built 
     
     136 miles of electric lines to serve over 600 rural customers. Applications are on file 
     
     from 2310. prospective rural customers for an additiond 431 miles at electric lines. 
     
    
   
   
    
     The Matheson Government, program at Rural ectrlflcation was expected to tdte five 
     
     years to complete but it is so much ahead of schedule that the lab. it is anticipated. 
     
     wl be finished in three years. - " ' ,
