But the seer himself—where was he? and what was this open window, with a rope running ont of it? And where, oh, where,
was the pride of Goresthorpe Grange, the glorious plate which have been the de- lectation of generations of D’Odds? And why was Mrs. D. standing in the gray light of dawn, wringing her hands and repeating her monotonous refrain? It was only very gardually that my misty brain took these things in, and grasped the connection between them.
Reader, I have never seen Mr. Abra- hams since; I have never seen the plate stamped with the resuscitated family crest; hardest of all, I have never caught a glimpse of the melancholy specter with the trailing garments, nor do I expect that I ever shall. In fact, my night’s ex- periences have cured me of my mania for the supernatural, and quite reconciled me to inhabiting the humdrum nineteenth- century edifice on the outskirts of Lon-
don which Mrs. D. has long had in her mind’s eye. As to the explanation of a!l that
occurred—that is a matter which is open
to several surmises. That Mr. Abrahams, the ghost hunter, was identical with Jemmy Wilson, alias the Nottingham

Sacixaw, Mich., July 13.—Doctors are beginning to turn their attention more ex clusively to the causes for the great in- crease of what is known as female com- plaints during the past ten years and to remedies fir the same. Many ec: ses have been investigated, and among others that f Mrs, Rean y, of Ashland, Wis., who was sured of this form of trouble by the use of a kidney medicine known as Dodd’s Kid- vey Pills, which originaied in Canada, but has now become w:dely knowa and used througheut the western States. This and ther similar cases go to show that the troubles are largely due to the kidneys and that the above mentioned remedy is likely to have a great effect in lessening the oumber of victims to this form of com- plaint.

The Way to Drink oo,
A pleasant variation in an evening of games is the drawing of flowers with col- ored crayons, and then having your guests guess the names of the flowers. A list of flowers should be made out, each one with a number. Oni separate slips of paper write the name of the flowers with its corresponding number, until you haye used each one on the list. Give each guest one of the slips, or have a draw for them, and provide them with crayons and sheets of paper. Give fifteen minutes for the making of the flowers, then col- lect the drawings and pin them up about the room. As the names of the flowers are read from the list guesses are given as to which flower among the drawings represent it. Another pleasant game is called matching quotations. Well-known lines are written on slips of paper and then divided into bits, each part having three or four words. These fragments are pinned about the room on furniture, cur- tains, and hangings, and person takes one and starts out to find the other parts that will make the quotation com- plete. Sometimes the quotations may con- sist of an entire line, with the second line forming the other half to be looked for.— Philadelphia Times
