The Fabulous 'Platters" have come and gone! There was a great turn out for t these welcome visitors at the Barn last January 13. The crowd swooned at these talented entertainers.
Many fond menories were recollected as the Platter 's sang the old favorites such as "Twilight Time", My Prayer", "The Great Pre —tender". A feeling of net -algia swept ovar the crow -d as they cheered them on However, after a half-hour the sensational Platters were gone.
The lucky students who witnessed this brief per— formance had paid$l.25 for the occassion. Although some students felt it was well worth the price they paid, quite a few others went away feeling jipped. Therefore, in the future it is hoped that the lengt -h of the performance be well known before financia lly deprived students lay down their money.

In the statement issued the day after a performance of the rock opera,"3esus Christ Superstar" in Univ— ersity Hall, Uolfville, the Acadia Students' Union de— clared professional entertainers in the future, unless certai -n conditions are included i -n thehcontracts provided by the booking agencies.0ne such condition demanded by t the students is that proé fessional entertainers send an advance man to campus the day before the scheduled appearance, so the entertain ers' technical requirements can be met. I thought they were fantaStic. Yes I thought it .was worth it.I paid $2.00 to see them in Halifax, so I was willing to pay$1.25 to see them again here. Even though they performed for hoe-half hour.

Kevin Gillis.. A Successful Flop
This past Sunday night, January 16, Kevin Gillis well-known coffeehouse singer from Ontario performed for a meager fifty students. Kevin's music was along the "Country and western" -music that is so well liked on this Island yet the majority of the students were from off the Island. It was expect- ed that at least two hundred and fifty students would come to the two shows to pay for Kevin's fee but we can assume that the one thousand seven hundred and seventy one full-time students of this university were either at Crowbar or at the Capital watching "The Rain People".
Nice going students... and people ask why we don't have top name groups coming to the functions of this campus, now you all know why.

I didn't go because I I didn't feel that $1.25 we -s worth seeing the Platter -s for only 20 minutes. I wouldn't be seeing the orig -inals anyway. It may be rumor, but I heard that only one of them is the son of one of the originals. They may have been entert —ainers, but I felt I would have been had!

After the interview,Mr. Haldemann took me 'around the kitchen and the storage and i saw that everything he said was true.All his vegetables are freshly frozen except for his potatoes which come in 1001b. bags.He talked of his training in Switzerland and told me that he had been in the business for eight years.I concluded that he was a person who took pride in his work and that he was doing his best for the students at U.P.E.I.

Althoughiit cost $1.25 ta'g -et in and the group only played for one half heur nobody seemed to mind when they left, people were satisfied with their per formance . They felt they had their moneys worth!
