Questioned by Mr, Hickey regarding the standards of edu- cation. he said that it had not lmiiroved, since the district had always made it a point to get high rated, teacher. and always paid good salaries before they entered the Unit. Mr. Burke felt that the people had been misinformed and it was a case of taxation without representation.

He said that the Unit school meeting was not a public meeting and all improvements or com- plaints bad to be channeled through one trustee. When asked by Mr. Hickey whether he thought the throwing of the meeting open to all the ratepayers of the Unit would tend toward better admin- istration he replied that it would certainly not.

Mr. E. K. Kennedy endorsed the sentiments of Mrs. Norrie. ex- plaining he had a child attending the School on a part time basis and suggested that whatever the decision of the Government re- ! the A ' or dissolut- ion of the Unit. immediate steps should be taken to relieve this overcrowding in spring Park. Other speakers were Mr. Earl Norrie who felt that matters would not be remedied by building a new high school and Mr. Lorne Good who stated that if the Unit is broken up they would be taking a backward step of 2! years. Mr. Trainer said he was in favour of remaining within the Unit provid- ing all the other districts did like- wise.

Mrs. Willard Laiik. president of the Home and School Association said that she didn't vote at the Plebiscite because she did not fully understand the question ask- ed on the ballot. "I knew what we had. with the Unit. but I was un- aware of what we would have without it.” said Mrs. Lnrik. She felt that the people should have "been better informed as to what they were voting on. The presence of a music teacher was one of the advantages in belonging lo- the Unit, pointed out by Mrs. Lank. e
