The Grit lights present were James Yeo, M.P., Hon. John Yeo, Benjamin Rogers, Alberton; Mr. Martin, Tignish: William Cal'aghan, Miminigash ; and the candidates of the Grit Convention at Alberton, viz , J. F White, Alberton ; Angustus Callaghan and Joseph Murphy, of Lot 11 ; and John UO Counor, of Lot 14.

BensaMiIn Rovers was the first speaker. He said that he and Perry, and Matthescn, called the Convention. It consisted of forty-one delegates— White having 21 votes, Callaghan, 13. The Cenvention beund uself before voting, to support the ear di- dates having the most vetes, but it was found that corruption was used, asd that they dd not feel themselves bound by the vote, and as White. Murphy and Callaghan, were in the field, it was now for them to try to choose one of the three.

J F. Wnurrte said he was the nominee of that Convention and would not give way.

Joseph Mureny said he was ti'ty-five y ars old, and he was the representative of the farming class, would not resign, was sure of his election.

Each Candidate felt sure of his election ; hut the other Grit luminaries thonght that owing to the split Mr. Reid would retain iris seat.

The brilliant orations of the Grits proved useless ; and the meeting broke up without caning to any decision, so that there are now three Grits in the field.

There are some in favor of creating bigoted feeling by taking out a Protestant and running him on that principle, but the intelligence of this District ne douLt resent
