The baskets were auctioned by Mesars GB McEashern and H Acorn, of Seuris, and both did their atmost to help out the proceedings. As tne baskets were sold each purchaser received his basket aad taking his fair lady retired to the lunch room, where tua was served and properly prepared by Mr. Jas. Steele and Mra. F. McDonald, who kindly catered to each in turn. Aftar each gentleman and lady hai satisfied the wante of the “inner man,” all again repaired to the hall where everyone present enjoyed themselves in that delight- ful exercise, dancing, after which all re- tired to their homes satiefied that the gath- ering was the most delightful everheld in the hall,

OBITUARY.

At Peake’s Station, on January 30th, John F. McDonald, son of Douga!d and Mary Isabella McDonald, departed this life inthe twenty-fifth year of his age. The deceased was truly an ambitious young man of exemplary character. He was known in different parts of this province as @ painstaking and succeseful teacher. He was also known as a clever debater and a close reader of goed literature. In a werd his talents pointed out for him a br lliant future. But although by death ali his earthly hopes were blasted, still having lived well and died a happy and peaceful death he enjoyed man’s greatest blessing Onearth. Hisfuneralto St. Teresa’s was largely attended. After a High Mass of Requiem and the usual funeral service his remains were interred in the adjoining cemetery,
