The valne of this quantity of cheese, at prices obtained, was $8224 80, which was distributed amongst the 100 patrons who faroished milk. Three patrons alone re- ceived upwards of $835. Few factories in the province can boast of having three larger patrons, and they are enlarging and improving their milking herds and expect to supply a much larger quantity of milk next season. The annual meeting of the directors and shareholders of the Merchants’ Bank of Prince Edward Island was held to;day at their banking house. There was a good attendance. The director’s report, which was adonted, will ee found below :

Your directors bave much pleasure in submitting to youthe report for the year ending 3lat December 1807.

By the statement in your bands you will see the net profit is $21,763,66, which is about 1l per cent on the capiial of the Bank, and the largest profit made to this date in oue year and being $1569.23 in excess of 1896. This is, after deducting $1062, the difference of debate on current discounts between this year and 1896.

Referring to loans and bi'ls discount, amouating to $476,518, 2om- pared with 1896, we find the amount $380,227, a diff-reace ot $96,- 291 on which we are now receiving in- terest.

The circulation this year is $114,356, and in 1896, $92,772, a difference of $21,584; deposits $203,540 against $125,043 in 1896, a difference of $78,797. When you copn- sider the increase of Joans, circulation and deposits over 1896 you will find that we are dcing @ much larger business and wi:h better prospects for next year.

Two dividerds a* the rate of 8 per cent, per annum have been paid on the capital, and there sti!l remains $6,015, $5,008 of which is added to rest account, making that amount $55,090 ardthe balance $1015 carried over to next year.
