the 1956 United States election campaign. The hiiz summertime conven-
tions of the Democrats and Repub- licans will select the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the Nov. 6 voting.
But already the Republican tickcl is cut and dried. Barring another heart attack. Dwight D. Unofficial tabulations indicate Stevenson is ahead of Kefauver in the number of delegates com-, mitted to date in the presidentialy primaries. that complicated pol-,i itical device by which 18 statesi select delegates for the party con-ll ventions. SUDBURY, Ont. (CF) - Provin- cial police are trying to discover why a young German immigrant bound himself with 300 Of wire. then apparently waited for death in the wilderness.
Carl Heinz Engler. a blond. wavy-haired youth, appeared be- fore Magistrate P. J. McAndreiv charged with breaking into a mine office and stealing three rolls of wire and a measuring tape.
Provincial police constable Har- old Kerns told the court Engler was found in the bush May by two Renabie mine employees. It was only by chance that the two miners happened to visit the re- mote spot where Engler was found.
"His feet were tied. his hands were tied. and he was wired from the shoulders to the knees." con- stable Kerns said. "He had also placed a six-foot stick up his back. He would not have been able to get loose. and would likely have starved to death."
