The midsummer examination of Queen Square School took place this forenoon
Among the visitors were His Honor the Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. How!lan, Rev. Dr. Morrisoa, Dr. Leeming, Hon. v, Laird, Hon. D Farquharson, Messrs. T. C. Jame?, T. Handrahan, J. B. McDonald, 8. Blanchard, Arcbd. Kennedy, J. Seaman, Principal of Upper Prince Street School, and several other teachers, bes des a num- ber of parents who were interested in the school. At the close of the examination the schoo! was massed in the upper hall where several choruses were weil sung. The remains of John M. Campbell were interred at Clifton, New London, on, the 18th Jane inst., where a large concoarse of the inhabitants of New Londo. met to pay their last tribute of respect. Mr. Campbell was about 36 years of age—left New London for the Pacific Coast about
Califoria. He died suddeuly at San Jose, California, on the 7th inst., from heart clot, after running some little distance to overtake a car. His sister, Miss Lucy Campbell, brought the remains home, and much sympathy is felt for her ant her si-ter, Mrs. Robert Glover. of Summerside, in their sad be- reavemeat, and particularly as Mra. Glover is in very poor health ever since the news of his death. Jobn had many friends and there are many who knew his father and mother, McKay Campbell and his wife, who will remember the large circle of friends who will deeply sympathize now with the remaining members of the fam! ily. His sudden departure traly verifies the expression “Ta the midst of life we are are in death .”—Com.
