MRS. WILLIAM J. POWER

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord henceforth now saith the spirit that they may rest. from their labors for their works follow them.

There passed peacefully away at her home in Eillotvale. May 31, after a long and painful ill- ness. home with Christ-Ian pat- ience and fortitude LaVlnia. wi- dow of William J. Power.

Lavinia as she was familiarly known. was born at Elliotvale seventy-seven years ago the youngest of a family of nine of Mr. and Mrs. John Edmonds.

When only three years old she sustained the loss of her mother but was tenderly cared for her father and her oldest sister, Mary Gertrude who later was known as ,Sister of Mercy. 1,

in 1910 she married William J. Power and of t is union there were born five sons and two daughters. to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, Frank on the homestead who together with his wife Catherine, ten- dcriy cared for his mother dur- ing her illness. Gerald also of Elliotvaie. Edward and Ernest of Hamilton. and William of Montreal and Mrs. James Mc- Rae and Mrs. David McDonald. also of Hamilton. a sister, Mrs, Edward McQuade of Maine, and 21 grandchildren.

The funeral was held at St. .lnachim‘s Church. Vernon Riv- or. where solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Urban Gillis assisted by Rev. Lo Dooley. deacon and Rev. Clif- lord Murphy. sub - .

The funeral services were col- ducted by Rev. Fr. Murphy aa- sisted by Rev. Fr. L. B. Dooley. After which all that was mortal of a kind and loving mother and obliging neighbor was laid to rest beside her husband who predeceased her six years ago. there to await the glorious re- surrection.

The pallbearers were: J o h n Whalen. John McInnis, William Hill. Herman Gill. Terrence Ma- ginnis and George Walsh. May she rest in peace.

OBITUARY

MRS. KENNETH MACLEOD i Friends and relatives w e r e shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Mrs. Kenneth MacLeod of Irishtown ' at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Adams, Moncton in her 67th year.

Mrs. MacLeod had spent sev- rral weeks in the hospital ear-

her in the year with a heart ail- ment, but had recovered fa- vourably after returning to her ome. but on the evening of July 31. she was suddenly stri- ('kcn with another attack and passed away before medical aid could reach her.

Born at Indian River in the year 1895 she was the former Hattie Ella 'i‘uplin. daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Tup- lin. In 1914 she married Ken- neth Machod of Irishtown and lived in Indian River for two years before moving to Irish- town where she spent the rest of her life.

Hattie as she was known to all her friends was of a kind and loving nature. always ready to help any of her friends in need.

She will be greatly missed in the community but more so in the home where she was a lov- ign wife. mother and grandmo- i (‘l‘.

She was a member of Long River Presbyterian Church. Long River w. . S. and a charter member of Irishtown Women's institute.
