I hope to get on; good one out or my three ioais but we won't know until June which one to keep in training and which one to tu.rn out to pasture. They are all brad well enough to go iast but it would be expecting too much to get them all to the races.

Y.. who said to Henry, 'You and I are in the same class.-my chiei claim to fame is that Iowned the great pacer Dr. Stanton and sold him to Lindsay Fraser (or 500, only to see him go on and et a record or 2.00 and earn more than sl00.000'. I asked Ml. Dodge it he was related to the Hollyrood Farm Dodges oi Kentucky, and he said that J. L. Dodge was his iather and that he inherited the Hollyrood Farm and still owned it although no horses are kept on it at the present time. Mr. Dodge is a very clever amateur reinsman that races trotting colts in the two and three-year-old classes at Saratoga but does not care ior paccrs. He said that when Dr. Stanton could not trot fast and would not pace without hopples. he was anxious to get rid or him at any price. I remarked to him that his father was probably the most successiul small breeder in harness horse history and he told me that A very pretty and iast. iree-legged pacing mare. Redlnda 2.07, was the Hollyrood Ioundation matron and that she and her daughters were great speed pro- ducers with most oi their colts trotters." ,,

The ioliowing letter in the Fam- ily Hcrald and Weekly am was drawn to our attention by our iriend James Arbing oi this city: "We have a race horse named Cambrai, 35 years old. she was born in the spring oi 1911 and got her name irom the battle of Cambrai World war I, where so many Canadians lost their lives. The mare looks well when on grass, picks up her ears and lies down to roll, etc. In win- ter she gets thin as shs can eat very little hay. Besides hay her ieed consists oi all oats and bran. I wonder ii any oi the Family Herald readers have a horse as old as Cambral? Mrs. M. 8.3.. Nova Ecotia." Many Maritimers will remember the daughter oi Captain Aubrey 20755 that was raced by Billy Hood in the early 1920's. she was a handsome bay and a great trotter. Ii racing to- day she would easily take a re- cord or 2.12 on our last tracks and the three heat plan. she got her mark at Moncton, August 24. 1923. where she won the second heat in 2.1'lli in a. field oi seven trotiers and pacers.

Stew. art's horse van came after us Thursday. March 13. we leit Syd- ney at ole en o'clock in the morn- ing and-s pped only to eat and at the border. We landed here at six o'clock Saturday evening. The horses were a little seasick getting oi! the van; clear oi that they did not mind the trip and were as irisky as kittens neat day. I have iliteen training miles in my horses now and by the times you receive this willbe well in the twenties. I am workkig miles from 3.00 to 2.40 and will be going in 2.30 in another couple oi weeks. The track here is in periect shape and there are over 100 horses in training.

."Billy Hood was down from Rhode Island today. He is with Harry Coleman. They have nine head training there: Bob Ryan is also here and I am sending you a list oi his colts by Lusty Frisco 2.0136. They are real nice colts, show a lot oi trot and do it the right way. He has them staked up here. I help him work them. We work two together sometimes. one oi them with an aged horse. I like Bridget Frisco a lot. she can trot iast. Bob worked her In 2.17 last year as a two-year-old. then turned her out. Colonel Dan 2.0096 is as good as ever and working like a machine. Bob has eight head. He is one great tel- low. We expect to go to Roosevelt Raceway in two weeks time when we get the horses up to miles around 2.30. One oi our horses is in training at Roosevelt now, Pastime Lew mom. I will take him over when we get there. P. J. bought him in Ohio and Jack Butterworth is training him now. P. J. expects to race him at Yon- kers.

"I like Lucky Chiei very much, he is a. high class horse. has quite a name up here as a race horse. They say he can pace in 2.05 every time he turns around. My horses are all working good. I have never seen them so good in the spring. I expect Cobble- stone to trot in 2.07 or 2.08 this year. he knows nothing but trot.
