Rey. Father O'Neill, of Memrameook Cellege, is visiting the Province. He preached at the ten o’clock service in St. Dunstan’s Cathedral yesterday, his text beivg : “ What doth it profit aman if he gain ‘the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul.” His sermon is spoken of as one of the most scholarly and eloquent heard in the Cathedral for some time.

The morning looked unfavourable and betokened rain, but to the delight of all concerned the clouds broke away and the day became fine. From ¥.a. mn. the people began to gather and they continued to assem ble till late in the afternoon. It seemed as if the day had been proclaim ed a public holiday and all were determined to take advantage of it. Although it is somewhat difficult to estimate accurately the number assembled at such gatherings there must have been 1500 present. The tea was a success financial'y—the'sum of $410.00 having been realized after all expenses had been paid. Much credit is due to the ladies of the different sections for their enticing viands they had pro- vic led for a kind and appreciative public.
