I grew up with my parents’ belief that each individual has a right to be what they want to be — even gay. But a few years ago I had second thoughts about the right.

town library minding my own business when this person came up to me and sat down in front of me. He slowly revealed his intentions by lifting the face of the book to me. It read, in big bold print, Homosexuality. I I

That was all I cared to read on the cover. I shot my eyes down to my open book, while the person continued making

eyes at me. I was feeling three sensa-

_‘ tions all at once: anger, fear

and embarrassment. I didn’t know what to do, so I kept my nose in the book. Getting noWhere, the person left the table, to my great relief.

Today I still believe that homosexuals have a right to their preference. However, when they decide to push their preference into some- body else’s space, they are looking for trouble.

Several awards are available for second semester to full-time students in any year of study. Awards range in amount from $125 to $300. One of the major criteria considered in awarding the bursaries is financial need.
