Federal Gov’t May Aid InGrainCompensation

They felt. as I do. ha the grower shottld absorb 15 per cent of the loss: so this would make compensation payments of $15.71 per acre."

Mr. MaeRae said that Island growers were unable to bar- vest‘last year about 7.000 acres of grain. Compensation at the rate of $15.71 per acre would amount to $100,970.

Mayor J. E. Morrison told the g r o u p the council would meet as soon as possible to con- sider the brief. but declined to give a definite date on which an answer could be expected to their request.

The brief noted that some of the long-time residents of Hill- crest owe considerable amounts in back taxes to the town. and that where these are involved the majority of people are un- able to meet the committment

The club met at Small's Tour- Ist Home with Reginald MacLel- Ian presiding. The motion to hold a senior citizens' night was made by Stanley Godfrey and econded by Thomas McWee.
