The picture in Tuesday’s Guardian has really started ton- gues wagging. I was told by trout fishermen who viewed the box the trout were carried in that after the thirty odd big fel- lows were removed for the pic- ture they. scarcely made a dint in the catch there were twice as many smaller fry left. One keen tront. counter. estimated between. ninety and one hundred in the box when it was viewed before the heavyweights were removed. Another reported to me that he watcher! another member of the same tribe at Larkin’s Dam, Selkirk, moving up towards the Railway Bridge with four fish- ing poles.... three heavy bamboo and one casting rod ..; in his boat. I read with interest the letter in the Public Forum of The Guardian in. yesterday’s Guar- dian. There was one paragraph that sort of intrigued me. Apart from this paragraph the writer hit: the nail square on the head in some of his remarks but was off the beam on others. Quote “‘Now Mr.. Farmer, if you had to buy a hunting license, you would be ‘taxed the same amount as the city dweller who does not own one foot of wildlife habitat, and also the same as the man, not a bonafide farmer, who owns or ‘leases hundreds of acres of land or water and ‘allows orily himself or his friends to hunt on said property.
