LONDON, Feb. 24.—(By The Cana- dian Press)—A bronze recumbent figure of a soldier by the late G. W. Lambert, Associate of the Royal Academy, has been on view in Aus- trallaHouse for a. fcw days and is destined for St. Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, Australia. In January 1930, this country pur- chased from abroad 120.274 pounds of cheese valued at 847.082. Last month the imports were 83.138 pounds, with a value of $24,897. Tot- al imports of all milk products dur- ing Janu y show a tremendous de- crease in value from those of Janu- ary, 1030. For last month the value of the imports was $170,171, while for the same month a year ago the value was 02,001,017.

Painful Death Of Ontario Man

An official commission wit: ci-r- atcd by Congress to plan thc cvcnt, which will be international in scope. Committees have been organized at Paris and Landon to arrange for ever-seas observance oi thc rvcnl. and the countries of Latin America will be invited to participate in the celebration.

The bi centennial will witness completion of a lvlcmorlai liighway to connect the City oi Washington with Mount Vernon, 111a honrr, a distance of 17 miles. The city itself. planned in its general lines by Il/Ihjfll‘ Pierre de lEniant, a Frenshnian, in collaboration with George Wasriug ton, will present to visitors numerous new or partially completed, public buildings, constructed under s. $200,- 000,000 authorization.

The national celebration is ex- pected to reach every city and town in this country. In various phases it will last from Feb. 22, 1932, until Thanksgiving Day in November. The Commission has appointed a committee, headed by Dr. John C. Fitzpatrick of the Manuscript Div- islon of thc Library of Congress, which will carefully examine all writings of George Washington, with a vicw to publication of a complete authenticated record oi his life and letters. ‘The work will comprise about 25 volumes, and will be made avail- able to all libraries in the country for public use.
