Fresh from the bloody beach. heads oi Normandy, where tiie fighting qualities of the regiment won unstinted praise from the officer commanding the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, "B" Squadron of the Hussars jammed its tanks into the very jaws of a forming Boche counter-attack to abolish the threat at the cost of the squadrons own annihilation . ;Frcm that hell no officers and inc tanks returned, the only sur- vivors being a few of the tank crewman.

This saga. of World War II has previously received passing men- tion in news dispatches, but only now is the full story of the hero- 15m and unparalleled courage of “Hussars Day" being told.

Official recognition of the hero- ism displayed by the l-Iusssrs on D-day and the devastating bat- tle a few days later, has recent- ly been forthcoming, but the full measure of the individual and coi- lective courage of the men in the regiment is best told in the suc- cinct comment of an eyewitness and participant in the action, who in relating some of the incidents of that day. says:
