SoLpier FLOGGED.—Yesterday morning at ten o'clock in the Jesuit barrack parade ground, one of these disgusting scenes which, fortunately tor the reputation of the British army, are of rare occurrence, took place, namely, the administra- ting of fifty lashes to a poor unfortunate soldier who had been found guilty by court martial, The punishment was inflicted in preserce of the whole regiment, and of hundreds of spectators who lined the wail along Anne street. ‘The soldier was tied by the wrists to a triangle in the centre of the square, and while the whip wae being applied to bis by a drummer of the regiment, he writhed in agony, but did pot seream or make any outward demonstration, he wasthen taken down and sent te hospital, after whieh he will be sent to the mil- litary prison for two years te complete his seutence.
