this morning at North Ciarendon. The ex- plesion set fire to 25,000 barrel tanks full of oil belonging to the National Transit Company, which are still burning, and will be a total loss. Several oil derricks and small wooden tanks were burned. No one, as far as learned, ‘was injured, but much damage waa done to the surrounding perty. Damage by Flood. Jounstown, Pa., Dec. 15.

‘The only damage done by the flood yes- terday was wrecking three bridges and floeding three streets of this city. Two bodies were recovered from the Conemaugh washed out by the high water.

The Verdict.

Purvis, Miss., Dec. 15. The jury in the Kilrain case returned a verdict of ‘‘ not guilty” of prize fighting, but of ** guilty” of assault and battery. They were out five hours.

Scppvey DeatH.—The Summerside Agricul- turist says: On Friday morning last, Mr. Jas. Brehaut, an aged citized of this town, went out, apparentiy in bis usual excellent health and after having eaten a hearty breakfast, to shovel snow from the sidewalk opposite the house in which he resided. He had hardly commenced work when he dropped dead. The alarm was at once given, and he was removed to the house and efforts made to resuscitate him, but in vain. The cause of death is said to have been apoplexy of the brain,

whip idbina tata Frost Proor Cars. —The Boston Post says: The New Brunswick railroad is turning out a number of new freight cars under the system of the FrostProof Car company of Boston. Five of these cars have already been finished and were loaded with potatoes at Port Fairfield, Me., on the Ist of this month, when the thermometor stood at zero. These cars passed through a country where the ther- mometor was 12 to 15 dezrees below zero, and arrived in Boston today without the use of anv artificial heat, and the contents were found to be free from frost, There were joaded at the same time cars of another sys- tem, which upon arriving in Boston were found to have some lots frozen.

EE SarLep ror NewFrounDLAND —The schooner Nutwood, Capt. Lord, and the schooner Twi- light, Capt. Joseph Tierney, both of Souris, left that port for Newfouadiand early yester- day (Sunday) morning. The former vessel was loaded by Matthew, McLean & Co., and the latter by Hon. Thomas Kickham. Both vessels carry valuable cargoes, consisting of oats, fresh beef, muttou, geese, hens, pork, &c. There are three Nova Scotia schooners still loading with produce at Souris by J. Sterns, Sterns Bros., ani A Currie. The steamer Beaver reached there a little after ]0 o'clock on Saturday evenisg, and left at 3 o'clock next morning with mails for the Mag- dalen Islands.
