In the afternoon, about 5 o'clock, a squall, of the kind which very often visits us this time of the year, came up with tremendous fury. The wind lashed the sea into foam, the sky was dark and angry, and the rain poured in torrents; rnd then, almost as suddenly as the storm came up, it subsided—leaving the air pure and brac ng. We have read of the blue skies and balmy air of Italy, ef the invigorating and bracing breezes of the Andercndacks and White Mountain ., but on Saturday evening after the squall al that Hotel by the sea side, we must have had an admixture of the balmy and the

AN INTERESTING EXHIBITION,

Mr. Alfred E. Peters. inventor of the Peters Combinition Lock, on Saturday

evening met leading members of the Cana- dian Press Association in the reception room of the Rankin Hotel, and exhibited the operation of his celebrated Lock. Among the gentlemen present were C.D.
