URSUANT to a resolution passed ata

‘tmheeting of the creditors of the above In- solvents, duly convened and held at my office in Charlottetown, on Saturday, the sixteenth day of August, inst., notice is hereby given that up te noon of MONDAY, the 8th day of September next, 1 will receive tenders for the purchase, en bloc, of the estate of the above named Insolvents and the several respective estates of each of them. mm

The tender must be made in writing, and must state, ist, the amount offered for the joint or partnership estate of the above in- aolvents ; 2d, the amount offered for the sev- eral estates of each of the above insolvents. ‘The person whose tender is accepted shall be bound, in addition to the amount of his tender, to pay all costs, charges, and expenses Which the Assignee bas incurred, or may incur, in respect of the above estate.

Assignee and Inspectors of the estate are not bouad to accept the highest or any tender.

The terms of purchase are payment in cash upon the execution by the Assignee of an essignment of the above estates to the pur- chaser, or as he shall direct. The estate of the above insolvents, and of each of them, consists of shipping, real estate, book and ether debts and personal property of various descriptions. The tenderer can ascertain full particulars of the same, by reference to the schedule of assets filed by the Insolvents with me in this matter. Certain portions of said estates have been sold since the insolvency, apcw es of such parts as have been sold can

obtained from the Assignee. The net pro ceeeds of such sales and the securities repre- senting the same shall form part of the estate and shall be assigned to the purchaser.

The action of the lady shareholder of the Consolidated Bank at the meeting yester- day, in urging criminal proceedings against the President, Sir Francis Hincks, the directors and managers of the institution, is considered plucky and the report of the speeches, as published to-day, shew that the ladies gave some wholesome criticism.

Fort Tuomas, Arizona, Aug, 28. Hines, a deputy constable, was killed here yesterday while trying to arrest J. B. Collins, a merchant. A party of nine men from Safford have Collins, his clerk, and Justice Mann in custedy, and fears are

entertained for their safety. Batrmore, Md., Aug. 28.

Farmer Redifer, of Hartford county, was murdered this evening near Perrymanville, it is ree by tramps. The murderers escaped.

WILKESBARRE, Pa., Aug 28.

About two acres of gardens and nurseries at Mill Hollow, near here, sank eight feet yesterday. Itis believed the entire surface is undermined and must go down, destroy- ing many public and private buildings.

Gen, J. B. Hood and his daughter Lydia are both down with-yellow fever.

The bark ‘‘Black Prince,” from Havana, has arrived at quarantine with several cases of yellow fever on board. There has been one death on board the vessel.

San Francisco, Ang. 28.

The physicians still report Kalloch im. proving, but he cannot be considered out of danger. At present the most unfavorable syptom in his case is the feeling of sick- ness at the stemach abeut.six o'clock every evening. ~*'Kalloch fears that it is produced by agita- tion to his nerves, occasioned by the pres- ence of physicians at about that time, and they have’ accordingly decided to see him only in the forenoon. It is also thonght it may result from over nourishment.

William Ulmer has fallen heir to an estate in France worth $100,000 by the death of his father in Paris. Ulmer at one time was barkeeper at the Lookout House in Cincinatti, but-his whereabouts are now unknown.

The Greenville (Mass) Advertiser says that a saloon keeperon the Arkansas side of the river, after selling the contents of a whiskey barrel, found therein the remains of achild. The stamp on the barrel was four years old. This reminds one of the ‘* Pasha of Many Tales.”

The Spanish settlement of Sante Fe, as a town, is more than three hundred years old, and as it probably antedates St. Au- gustine, it is the oldest European town in the United States. It has a Cathelic Church over three hundred years old.

Chief Justice Morris, of Ireland, with his wife aud daughter, were recently driving threug’i a pass in the Tyrol, when an ayal- anche was heard, They jumped out of the carriage and hastened on. The caariage was swept away and the driver was killed.

A young man at Spaxton, England, thought that it would be fun to set fire to a nearly empty eask of benzoline. He dropped a lighted match in the bung hole and ran. One person was killed by the ex- plosion, and the young man is in prison awaiting his trial on a charge of manslaugh- ter.

George Thompson was on his death bed in a hospital at Lexington, Ky. He sent for a police detective and confessed that he wasa fugitive murderer from Tennessee, saying that he didnot wish to die with the crime on his. conscience. But he svon rallied, and there being hope of his recov- ery, declared that the confeasion must have been the freak of .delirium, as heremem- bered nothing, about it, and certainly had never killed anybody.. Tue New York Tribune of last Saturday publishes interviews with a large number of prominent business men on trade, pro- svects, and says that the leading men of New York express the belief that times are steadily improving. The abundant har- vest in the West and Seuth are cited for the basis of this belief. The revival of

manufacturing interests in different parts

of the country is also mentioned as a proof of returning prosperity. Prices in all de- partments of trade are firm, with a tendency to rise, Many cgses of the volume of busi- ness the past five or six months show an imcrease over that ef any corresponding ried since 1873, and in every instance the volume of business thus far the present season is considerably in excess of last year. Intelligence has been received that a more cheerful feeling exists all over the land than at any time since 187%.
