L. O. O. F.—The Grand Lodge of the L. P, B. N. A, will convene at Yarmouth on Wed- nesday, Avgust 12th, at 10.30 a. m. The brethren in that prosperous town are making great preparations, and are determined to give Oddfellowship the biggest boom it has ever had in the Provinees. The executive ‘committee have prepared a programme as fol- lows :—An encampment of the order will be ijstituted on Tuesday night, 11th, the evening preceding the assembling of Grand | odge. Patriarchs from Bosten encampment will be present. Oa Thursday morning the Yarmouth Steamship Co. will land a company of Massa- chusetts and other New England brethren. After Grand Lodge opens the members and representatives will form in procession and march to the site of the new Oddfellows’ Temple, where the corner stone will be laid with Oddfellows’ honors. At 4 p. m. a recep- tion and luncheon will be held. At 6.36 the visiting contingent from Boston will leave for home. On the 14th an excursion leaves Yar- mouth for Boston by steamer, open to all brethren of the order. Visiting Oddfellows are requested to attend in regular costume.

A Danagrovus Joke.—While one of our respected farme.s was returning home from prayer meeting last night, he met with what might have been a serious calamity. It appears that when the gentleman in question reached the brow of the hill near aGlynwood, on the Brackley Point Road, he

felt an obstruction around his throat and neck, which compelled him to stop his horse and carriage. On investigation he found that a couple of rascals had extendad a hair rope across the road, in order to stop any person travelling along. Beyon

being slightly grazed about the face and throat the farmer escaped serious ijury, which would certainly have been the result had the horse been travelling at his usual pace. St. Peter's Road has of late years obtained an unenviable notoriety. Last year, for months, the Jordan house flour- ished, and many persons were assaulted and frichtened and chased by midnight maraud- ers, and this year the read is occupied by a madman, who is allowed to ream about at his own sweet will, to the terror of the in- habitants and_ travellers. Last night's freak was a Cangerous one, and the two offenders who attempted, by means of a rope across the road, to stop 4 gentleman travelling home of dark night, should be
